Relationship & Marriage Counselling
Strong, healthy and loving relationships promote a healthy lifestyle. The same can be said to be true for the opposite where fragile, negative and hostile relationships can damage a healthy lifestyle. As such it is important that relationships receive specific care and attention to allow them to grow and enrich one’s life.
For most, intimate relationships begin with excitement, passion and even infatuation at times, however all too often relationships can turn dull, boring and mundane. As such, relationships require ongoing work and maintenance to keep them fresh, exciting and productive. Unmet expectations, misunderstandings and disappointments can often create emotional distance and conflict.
Learning to communicate honestly and working through difficulties as they emerge is an important factor in maintaining an enriching and deeply satisfying relationship.
While no-one has a perfect relationship, at Strategic Psychology we aim to help nurture relationships through addressing any difficulties or damaging patterns which may be in the way.
Common areas that couples often experience difficulties in are:
• Lack of communication
• Conflict – verbal, physical, and/or emotional
• Lack of trust
• Unhappiness with the current situation
• Commitment difficulties
• Relationship breakdowns
• Adjustment problems
• Infidelity or Jealousy
• New relationships
• Differing opinions/beliefs
• Challenges in adapting to living together
• Lack of intimacy
If you are experiencing one or more of the above difficulties with your partner, seeing a psychologist either individually or together may help to reduce possible resentments building up and in turn reinforce a strong, loving and healthy relationship.
