Chronic Pain

Chronic pain during or after experiencing a serious illness or accident is debilitating both physically and emotionally. Long term pain can not only change the way we are able to move, but also change the way we experience and perceive emotions and feelings of self worth. Often sufferers of chronic pain will experience periods of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and frustration at their inability to perform as they once were able. Feelings of anger are also common and often are directed at others, loved ones, painful tasks, difficult situation and even towards oneself.

Treatment can help chronic pain suffers to predict their pattern of pain and learn how to best manage it. Speaking to a psychologist can also help sufferers to change their negative feelings into a more accepting and positive attitude to aid in building a better and brighter future.

Pain management by design is not about eliminating pain, but rather focuses on adapting to or tolerating pain in the service of maintaining activities that are important to you!
