Childhood Abuse

Victims of child abuse can often continue to suffer long after their abuse has stopped. Child abuse, whether it be sexual, physical, emotional or neglect, can continue to affect its victim with effects such as:

• Increased chances of experiencing depression or anxiety

• Increased chances of experiencing low self esteem

• Increased chances of developing damaging addictions

• Difficulties in forming strong and healthy relationships

• Feelings of guilt and fear

• Difficulties in maintaining emotional balance/stability

At Strategic Psychology we are able to help you understand any abuse experienced and in turn how your experiences as a child may be affecting you in your life right now. We can also help you to recognise unhelpful feelings and thoughts stemming from a previous abuse that may be holding you back from living a meaningful life. Through understanding, awareness and self-compassion we believe it is possible to recover from childhood abuse and begin living beyond past pains, guilt, regrets and fears.
